Alexander Chong
Inventor, Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Alex is the Chairman and CEO of CQENS Technologies. He is an experienced entrepreneur and international businessman. He is the Founder and Chairman of Plexus International, a quality training and consulting organization with 14 international offices. Alex was the North American joint venture partner with Ruyan Group Holdings, the originator of modern vaping technology. As the joint venture partner he successfully secured patents for Ruyan that sold in 2013 for $75 million USD and resulted in licensing and royalty revenue for the purchaser in excess of $650 million USD. Alex is the co-inventor of all of our issued and pending US and international patents—all related to vapor/aerosol systems and formulations for inhaled delivery. Alex is a Boston College graduate with a degree in Chemistry.
Dan Markes
Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Director
Dan has been a cornerstone of the organization since its inception, serving both as an executive officer and a member of the board of directors. With a robust background in financial management and strategic leadership, Dan brings a multifaceted expertise that extends beyond traditional financial stewardship and oversight in his role with the Company. Dan’s diverse background in business and corporate management has enabled him to hold key leadership roles including CFO, Controller, Director of HR, Finance. and Administration, and manage a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, foster organizational culture and promote high-performance environments. His volunteer work has included serving as a founding board member for a non-profit organization linking community and social services for individuals returning or transitioning to the workforce. Dan is a graduate of Brock University, St Catharines, Ontario, where he earned a BBA degree.

Markus Bonke
Chief Operating Officer
Markus’ background is in Law and Employee Relations with extensive experience across the full employee lifecycle. He has delivered large-scale transformations, leading people and operational work teams in major change programs including mergers and acquisition integration, market entries and the rollouts of new business models. Markus is deeply knowledgeable about market disruption opportunities, design, change, knowledge share and collaboration as drivers for sustainable business performance.

Titus Wouda Kuipers
Chief Commercial Officer
Titus is an entrepreneurial, result focused leader with world class analytical and organizational skills. He is an international senior executive with 3 years of FTSE 30 executive committee experience, over 20 years of experience in sales & marketing roles in consumer goods, 2.5 years in manufacturing (operations director) and two years in the CEO role in a start-up/scale-up emerging business. Titus has a proven track record of profit growth in sales & marketing roles and in a CEO emerging business role. He has deep and broad experiences from technological innovation and product development, through manufacturing to marketing and sales.

Ged Shudall
Chief Technology Officer
Ged is an engineering leader with 20 years of experience in delivering manufacturing innovation and product change globally. He spent nearly a decade leading the development and delivery of products in the vapor product sector with a particular focus on sourcing, manufacturing quality practices and regulation. Ged also has had significant experience in early-stage product development, regulatory matters and developing and safeguarding intellectual property.

William Bartkowski
Inventor, Co-founder and Corporate Secretary
Bill has had a five-decade career as an educator, commercial banker, investment banker, inventor, corporate executive and entrepreneur. Bill was a North American joint venture partner with Ruyan Group Holdings. He is the co-inventor of all of our issued and pending US and international patents—all related to vapor/aerosol systems and formulations for inhaled delivery. Bill has an MA from North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND -where he served on the faculty from 1976 to 1981- and a PhD in Adult Education. Throughout his business career he has served as an adjunct faculty member at numerous colleges and universities in the area of corporate/business communications and corporate relations. He currently serves as a four decade member of the Board of Regents of the University of Mary, Bismarck, ND—where earned his BA in 1974.

Roger Nielsen
In Memoriam July 5, 1946 – June 23, 2024
Roger was a long-time business partner of and trusted advisor to Alex Chong and the entire CQENS management team. He served as an executive officer of CQENS since its earliest days. At the company he was a member of the Board of Directors, a vice president, and the corporate secretary. Roger’s practical wisdom, wit, and generosity of spirit will be missed by all who knew him, especially those who were fortunate to have been able to work with him.
